Morgan Cupido (Cue-pid-oh) was born and raised in Calgary AB, Canada, where she currently lives and creates her pieces. Art has always been a passion of hers throughout her entire life. She has always indulged herself in any activity that involved creativity in any capacity.

Morgan is heavily inspired by the raw textures and colours of the earth that surround us. She loves to highlight the subtle beauty that typically goes unnoticed. Looking into the very fine details of everything around her, she translates what she sees into her paintings. Her work is a combination of inspiration from textures around her, memories, feelings and subconscious thoughts. She believes there is beauty in everything. Growing up surrounded by mountains, they have become a common theme within her work. Her work started with textured mountain landscapes over 8 years ago, which are still some of her most popular pieces. With the textural element of her landscape paintings, she aims to evoke a sense of the mountains grandeur, strength and timelessness. The absence of colour allows the texture in the artwork to speak for itself and allows the viewer to delve deeper in to the composition focusing solely on the interplay of shadows, highlights, and various textural elements. It encourages an exploration of the artwork through touch, imagination and contemplation. By emphasizing the tactile qualities, her artwork bridges the gap between visual and sensory, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in the experience of the mountains texture and form. Morgan has also always had a fascination with the expressive power of fluid lines, as she continued to delve into her creative process, she discovered a unique synergy between these two artistic approaches. This artistic exploration birthed a new body of work where the love for mountains and the fluidity of lines found their harmonious union. Within this body of work, the lines take on a life of their own, gracefully weaving and intertwining, suggesting the majesty and grandeur of mountains. Morgan loves how you can capture a similar concept with many different styles of work. She also uses the simplicity of lines to create visual representations of the wind. As a powerful natural force, serves as a metaphor for the intangible aspects of the human condition— emotions, thoughts, unpredictability, and the ever-changing nature of life. Her other abstract pieces aim to encapsulate more of the human experience, to create visual metaphors or evoke specific ideas or concepts. In lieu of a journal, Morgan uses her paintings to translate her deepest thoughts and emotions. Her paintings are deeply personal to her.

Morgan’s contemporary landscapes and meditative abstract work can be found in private collectors homes, and corporate spaces worldwide.

About the Artist

Artist’s statement:

With my art, I aim to evoke feelings of peace and tranquility within the spaces that house them. I hope to create timeless paintings, like the mountains themselves. I love creating my two bodies of work for mountains because I can explore the perfectionist side of myself with the mountain textured pieces, while stepping into my intuition with my abstract line work. Despite their simplicity, lines can be incredibly expressive. The way lines curve, intersect, or vary in thickness can communicate a wide range of emotions and moods. Line art often relies on the viewer's imagination to fill in the details, stimulating a deeper level of engagement and personal interpretation. I intend to create a space for contemplation, introspection, and connection, enabling viewers to explore their own inner landscapes through the lens of my artwork. Sharing the deeper meanings of my work always feels quite vulnerable as if I’m reading from my journal. I use my artwork to process my emotions and experiences in a creative way. I hope that by sharing these deeper meanings that they resonate with the viewers own experiences.

Thank you for your endless support.

Warmly,

Morgan
